Happy earthly birthday to my mother Violanda! As many of you know, she was a world class operatic soprano. It was a great treat when she sang Ave Maria at my 22nd birthday concert at the Quiet Knight in Chicago. She also did a magnificent job singing Mother Is Waiting on my 2nd LP. It took 40 years to be able to re-release that song (along with the entire album), which I did 12/29/23. Give Mother Is Waiting a listen and check out her final high note! youtube.com/watch?v=LyGg9-N-Q0

Here's a recently discovered drawing done in 1980 by the very talented New York artist and musician Robert Mag. He got my nose just right!

Happy 77th birthday to Iggy Pop, an incredible artist who my band was so fortunate to tour with 11/79. Here is a poster from one of our shows together! Let's all wish Iggy a fantastic day and year ahead!

In celebration of Record Store Day, check out The Rejects being pressed in Chicago by Smashed Plastic Record Pressing!

This is Record 2 of the Double LP set, Conversation & The Rejects.

2-With a Music Degree from Chicago State, Javier was a world-class keyboardist by anyone's standards. His synthesizer abilities were unparalleled in this world. If you listen to the first two Skafish albums, you will certainly notice his groundbreaking, evocative synthesizer work.

I just want to take this moment to acknowledge, celebrate and remember Javier! With love! Pic from 1st Skafish LP inner sleeve: Bill Sosin

1-It was 4 years today that my friend, former Skafish band member, world-class musician and teacher Javier Cruz transitioned into spirit.

As always, I remember all we shared, his phenomenal talents, his non-conformist worldview, his hatred of toxic capitalism before it was fashionable, his support for those who had less, and his community spirit.

2-There was a wailing baby near us and Miles stomped over there and told the couple to keep their baby quiet.

I thought, oh f***, what if we get shot? As you know, Larry, where you and I come from, those types of confrontations could lead to being shot, stabbed or attacked. Thankfully, nothing bad happened-and here we are today, alive and well!

1-Larry Mysliwiec RE Do I remember Miles Copeland yelling at a couple in a restaurant he took us to and telling them to keep their baby quiet?

Yes, I do remember this. It was when Miles Copeland came to stay in my tiny apartment in East Chicago Indiana when we were cutting the Conversation album 4/83. He took the band out to a Mexican restaurant about four blocks from my apartment.

I am thrilled to celebrate the earthly birthday of one of the greatest blues artists of all time, my friend Muddy Waters. He was phenomenally innovative to both blues and rock n roll on countless levels!

On a personal note, Muddy welcomed me with open arms when we met in the mid 70s, including inviting me to jam with his band and comparing me to Mick Jagger in United Press International 12/81.

Let us all salute his greatness and celebrate what Muddy brought to this world!!

Empathy and compassion are sorely missing from this world, but each of us as individuals can build this from within and offer it to others.

Happy Sweet 16th Birthday to my album What’sThis? 1976-1979!

I was thrilled that Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Cheap Trick wrote the liner notes for this release, referring referred to these recordings as the music that “started it all.”

I’d love you to listen to Knuckle Sandwich, one of the first anti-gay bashing songs, written 1975-76. It is perhaps more relevant today than back in the day.

It was fantastic being able to play with the Stranglers at Club 57 in New York, October 1980. New York Dolls singer David Johansen (who I just love), came looking to hang out with me, but we missed each other that night. Here is the concert review in Rolling Stone by writer Kurt Loder. RE the question of whether my band played at CBGB.

Yes! My band was the first Chicago punk act to play CBGB. We first played there on April 12 & 13, 1977, with the Mumps. The Ramones were in attendance and that’s when I first met Joey Ramone. Subsequently, we played two shows with the Ramones in Chicago.

We also played there with the Cramps in December of 1977. Pictured is the poster for those shows.

These were phenomenal experiences! Pic: Stephen M.H. Braitman

In case you haven’t read my blog entry about Sid Vicious’ last public event, a violent brawl he solely caused at my concert in New York, check it out. My blog entry led to me being in the 2016 film, Sad Vacation: The Last Days of Sid and Nancy, directed by Danny Garcia. Among other things, the date of this event had been reported inaccurately for decades. This invite card verifies the date. Here is my blog entry: skafishblog.skafish.com/2011/0
