I have a problem with that statement for a different reason. If one of the rounds grazed the ear rather than broken glass from the prompter, then an inch or so to the right would have been a fatal shot. Walk that back to the rifle, and a very tiny change in grip, trigger pull, optic adjustment, etc. could make that difference.

I think the premise is the "easy shot" would have been aiming for the thorax. Trump provides an ample target there.
Center mass?
I believe that Trump wears a threat level III or IV armored vest under his shirt when he's in public and was wearing it that day.

Brandon Webb is the least credible of the 3 experts in that article. I'm slightly annoyed by his inclusion when there are about half a dozen long service professional counter snipers in my follow list that I could have recommended had I been asked.
And they're all quietly bitching in back channels about Webb being in there as well.
