Did you ever think about how posting current weather conditions could potentially reveal a lot about your location? This probably isn't a concern for most people, but if you are trying to remain anonymous online this could compromise you.

@voltronic

Yeah. Also simply talking about “good morning/night”, or merely the timing of your posts, and what shift you work.

This pseudonym is more of a “locks keep honest people honest” sort of situation, tho. I’ve had it since I was a kid, and I didn’t and still don’t practice the best opsec with it.

My threat profile isn’t really that grand - I’m poor, have a shit credit score, and no authority or connections. I have my credit reporting frozen and I use good passwords and 2FA. Good ‘nuf

@voltronic

I also have found it’s a lot easier to get hired now that I’ve frozen my shit on TheWorkNumber, which is basically a data broker for work history.

That, combined with a service that helps remove you from data broker sites in bulk, plus m good passwords, 2FA, and frozen credit score stuff makes it pretty damn hard for the average bastard to fuck with you.

Always remember: criminals do crimes because they’re easy or fun.

So make yourself a pain in the ass not worth the effort.

@voltronic

(If you’ve pissed people off and they’re after your ass for ideological or political reasons, tho, you better pucker up.)

Never heard of The Work Number, but I'm not super surprised that exists.
