Went out for a quick lunch today while we were running errands.
As we were eating. There was a group of special needs adults with their caretakers all having a nice lunch together. Making jokes. Planning the rest of their day. It's always nice when I see these groups out.
And of course it struck me. These adults that need help and most likely taken care of by the state and Medicaid. Their caretakers also penally paid by the state.
Are going to lose everything.
Greatest country... Sure...
@InvaderGzim maybe. I wonder about autistics and special education kids in school, the ones who are unable to function in regular classrooms but go to school in separate rooms 🤔 if these people will later have a place to go or will they stay home.

No. The vast majority will have nowhere to go and be pushed back into their homes or the streets for an early, cruel and preventable death due to the elimination of services.
Our country is great. Millions of people that live in it are horrible excuses for human beings.

Oh I had no question that this is what will happen...
One of my neighbors has an autistic son.. always likes to stop to ask me questions that he's asked a hundred times whenever he rides past on his bike in the evenings... And I always answer him and talk to him like it was the first time...
Just got himself a simple job a few days a week... But will be home forever...
And I keep wondering about their future...

Yes, the language that a lot of Republicans (notably Betsy DeVos) use is that it's unfair to the majority of kids to spend a bunch of money on a handful. I was confused when I first heard it, and then realized they meant we shouldn't spend any money on accommodations, much less special ed.
This goes hand in hand with voucher programs to undercut public education in general.

Dems really miss out on a talking point that would help them connect with rural voters, who--even in the deepest red parts of Texas--HATE voucher programs. Because there aren't private options in rural areas, and they know their kids won't benefit. In some areas, there are already multiple counties sharing a single school.
