Here's a piece of American history that's not well taught: the 1921 Tulsa race massacre where as many as 300 black people were killed. The neighborhood that was destroyed was a thriving economic area known as Black Wall Street. It was a symbol of the success that Black Americans could find, where they supported one another. And it was burned to the ground.
