I find it interesting that on TikTok, the creators are asking and demanding Congress to keep the app for their own benefit although the CCP controls almost all there. Yes, the US needs something for data protection like the GDPR in the EU and we could argue, even agreeing with that, but I’m amazed people will defend TikTok like no other. Now, some are going to Clapper and I’m not sure that’s safe as well.
@tracytran
I don’t trust Zoom either. Any company with a significant presence in PRC could be pressured to collect data or monitor communications of foreigners of interest. We need free alternatives.
@MerionFriends I don’t trust any company, or I should say their leadership team and executives on it, but they’re great community tools and should benefit everyone except executives think everything needs to have a profit. Wish there’s a TikTok alternative, but doubt will happen. That’s why Im intrigue by Clapper, but it could be a cycle all over again.
To follow up on Clapper. Looked at the reviews. It’s not bad, but it’s not moderated well. They still have the MAGA. QANon stench although the founder, Edison Chen said he will banned those videos. Apparently, that has not happened yet.
