Okay, so I'm poor and only do one news subscription. Since the Post ain't it anymore, what's the best source for balanced reporting? Like, actually balanced, not "Nazis should have free speech too". I need something that will help me talk to people in a red state about current events without pissing them off. Does that exist anymore?
@AskTheDevil Awesome, bookmarked where I used to have WP.
@LnzyHou @tippitiwichet I've been a supporter, off and on (barring being dead or a child or poor) for a couple centuries. I find it rare that an institution manages to follow an ethical mission so diligently in the modern age.
No news outlet is perfect or without bias, but the Guardian strives for an ideal, and I think they act in good faith, and hold themselves to high standards.
Not corporate, not owned by billionnares and stock-holders. Paid for by subscribers and run by a trust.
I’ve also seen the Rolling Stone exhibit excellent editorial direction.
@LnzyHou @tippitiwichet I find them rather hit or miss, and I don't think they have the same sort of journalistic standard of something like the Guardian.
I'm not saying I don't like RS, but they're just a different sort of publication. For one thing, they're not a daily.
Not saying they are the same. I’m intrigued by their ever-increasing excellence in reporting political developments.
Have to say, I’m surprised as I never expected editorial excellence from an entertainment monthly.
@LnzyHou @tippitiwichet I liked that Stephen King had them in Firestarter as the only place the main character trusted to take their evidence of government wrongdoing to.
@tippitiwichet @AskTheDevil
Agree. I respect Guardian.
