I was giving gratitude to people who couldn't legally get me out of a bad situation when I was a child, so they went out of their way to show me they cared (that's a routine gratitude thing), and suddenly felt less guilt for the time I lost my temper on the man who pulled a toddler's ponytail (to keep her from walking into the parking lot, but she had suspenders available) and then chewed her out for crying. The younger woman with him had her shoulders slumped the whole time. 1/

Still wish I had done it in a way that wouldn't have provoked backlash. Walked up to her side of the car, whispered I was going to call. Something sane. Next time. Next time I will use skills.

and I later realized he would take his frustrations out on her :(. But I just now realized, I gave her something that would last longer than that. I yelled his license plate number at him while I told him he was going to be reported. I knew it might come to nothing, but she heard me. She heard me stand up for her in a frothing rage. If I provoked a fight, those bruises healed. But she remembers me. Damn I hope something good came of that.
