Yesterday, as soon as the sun went down and I could turn off all the lights to reduce glare, I brought out the tripod and did a better photo exploration of the terrorarium with the new moss from haunted Cherry street.
@fernfren Morty, but I'm not the one who named her. :) That would be the youngest, we were stuck in a hotel room in Rhode Island right after Covid hit. The only thing for her to watch was Rick and Morty. Sigh. Anyway, she is a mock tomato frog, the real tomato frogs look more evenly red, like a tomato. I like her better :). She is perpetually crankybutts, and gums my fingerworms often. She seldom moves, an ambush predator, therefore can have a small tank. She's in 10, hope for a 20 soon.
@fernfren I will absolutely show off more pics of my pretty frog. Including some baby pics of her fresh from Petsmart, a Christmas present for the youngest in 2021. She makes my love of color just get all melty.
OMG.
...
first of all, BEBE
but also-- that patterning is gorgeous, colors flawless. i can't believe you've held out on this frog for so long. or somehow i missed every photo until today
@fernfren You've missed them :). I don't have a ton, because she is territorial and doesn't like me shoving my camera in her face, so I only do it after a cage cleaning when she's been disturbed anyway, and everything is all tidy. Soon I will hunt for leaves and twigs in local cemeteries to add to it, and a better idea for the pill bug hide, so I'll probably do more terrarium pics when it's all arranged.
@fernfren Oh yeah, and part of the reason I chose her species was because she matched my pillbugs, you've seen those, right? I'll be pulling some out to put on the moss I just gathered for photos when I do that session.
NO i have NOT seen your ROLLY-POLEYS. that is a very pretty one. i'd heard they had some fancy upscale models, but had not yet seen... i have a young friend that reportedly has some of those, and also some kind of crazy centipede and an albino pacman frog named Gluten. i have seen and love the frog, but not the bugs.
i am so excited for your pending plant pics tho --there's gonna be wildlife too 🙌
omg they can live for 10 years! is she loud at night? googs says they're very vocal. while i do love to sleep with the window open to enjoy my native frog chorus, i'm not sure i want it coming from inside the house ha
but i love frog so much 🧡
@fernfren Only breeding males seem to make noise. I've never heard a peep from her. I've thought if I ever had a cement foundation I might get her a mate, will require a larger aquarium than a trailer should hold. But then I would have to find homes for them all. Might be able to trade to a pet store for supplies like I used to with fish, though.
@fernfren If you want a quiet female, there's a line on the inside of their thighs when you flip them over, that's how I sexed her. I took a pic, but naturally can't find it now. It's a whitish line, like a stripe kind of.
@tippitiwichet
i LOVE HER. formally requesting more Morty pls
she is beautiful
