So my neighbor that I've been avoiding since "the incident" finally came over with treats for the youngest. and I had to explain exactly why I'm in the house alone, given it was inevitable that they will see changes. She brought candy for a child who no longer lives here.
This means I talked to a neighbor about everything, one I didn't know very well, so she would understand the changes she was about to see.
She accepted it. She asked me what foods I like so I could come to dinner soon.
