So, last night I typed on here that I was looking for a mantis to bring inside this fall hoping they would lay an ootheca, and I stood up, stretched, and my kid ran inside saying she found a mantis, and it's female. Finished building her habitat today, what's a good name that means luck? #nature #insects #bugpet
@TheeDarkMaskjunky Lol, on Twitter I just posted Fortuna seems a bit much, but if two people think it, maybe not.
@tippitiwichet you could go Greek,
Demeter, Goddess of agriculture and the growth of food plants
Persephone, Goddess of agriculture, spring growth, and rebirth
@KGinKS *Gasp* Persephone... a huntress named after the bride of Death, she comes in for winter rather than a journey underground... I had to convince the six year old as I typed this, there was negotiation, singing, and then she said I was acting like a child and I thanked her so she smacked my arm lightly, but yeah, I talked her into it :D
@tippitiwichet Jinx... Plays on the idea.
@P_D_Austin Hmm. Maybe. I loved the Persephone suggestion a lot, but the kid can't get into it. She liked Glitch, like a Glitch in the Matrix. She might like Jinx.
@tippitiwichet I like glitch!!!
@P_D_Austin She's saying she likes Glitch too, now. However, I'm getting the vibe that this is going to be another one of those pets that goes through 10 names over 3 or 4 days before we decide on something, lol.
@tippitiwichet It's the best way to name someone.
@tippitiwichet
Keiko is the Japanese name that means “lucky child” (according to babycenter.com, which may not be a top source but it’s a cute name for a mantis).
@tippitiwichet
Persephone has gravitas, got to admit
@tippitiwichet Fortuna?
