I'm about, into, growing from, learning from, thriving on, and evolving within SO many unique and incredible things from SO many perspectives, my "politics" are the LEAST interesting thing about me.

In a community of wildly different and epic people who have much to share, teach, and celebrate about themselves, if all you can do is express only what you despise in the world, you're missing a chance to share so much more about yourself and we're missing a chance to delight in your epicness ❤️

I watch this twice a year. cry every time.

"I was searching for a train station. the kind you rarely see. small. countryside. we found it. & by accident, found something else. . i watched her smile at each passenger. then, noticed her wave at the departing one-car train. surprisingly, she continued waving. she waved until there was no trace left of the distant train. no one witnessed her, except me. in that short span, my love and wonder of life was renewed."

"Injustice isn't only felt by the loudest person complaining about it."

- ( Season 1, Episode 3)

These are the numbers that are perfect for a day when I have to do tons of manual labor that is gonna take a lot of spoons and a lot of time. Even better is the message "Resilience STRONG and RISING". I love that sentence. ❤️

Feeling AHHmazing today 👍🏾 Gonna be able to get a ton done after breakfast and hopefully get most of the kitchen rearranging done today.

🎉

When you are unhealed you can't hear anything through a clear lens.

Most of the stuff I get from white people in regards to anti-racism is usually defensiveness, anger, emotional dysregulation, discomfort ... basically just tons and tons of fear ...

Unhealed people are dangerous and harmful in all kinds of situations and for all kinds of reasons.

has great material and workshops that focus on DEI, healing, and learning.

His recent series on social media about Unhealed White Folks In Anti-Racist Spaces is one of the reasons why I almost 99% don't discuss racism with white people or really anything reality based with anyone. The level of unhealed and dysregulated people in the world makes it impossible to have normal conversation on nearly any topic.

Great snippet from episode 8 of "Healed Girl Era Podcast," Amber Riley talks about Glee and Naya Rivera. Something that struck me most was how she said that Twitter made her realize how much the world truly hates Black women ... She hadn't realized it until Glee became popular and Twitter was also really growing into the true version of itself around the same time. I have to agree ... Twitter showed me a lot of horrible things that no other social media had before.

Love these feet soaking boots I got for @IronButterfly. I can fill with hot water and soaking salts and sit and my desk and game at the same time. Can even walk in them (slowly) in a pinch 🤣

Borrowing and celebrating aspects from a particular culture while simultaneously oppressing and punishing the people of that culture for expressing them themselves is cultural appropriation. Add to that the unopposed and systemic act of "culling" members of that culture as well.

Native Americans and other Indigenous peoples have been saying this for generations.

It's not that hard to understand what cultural appropriation is.

People just want to nitpick about it instead of being honest.

Solar is doing ballroom roleplay basically ... she's seen it, she likes it, she wants to jump on that trend. She grabs some ballroom culture vernacular like "kiki" and puts it in there and then learns the dances.

It's a costume. It's cosplay.

All that said ... Solar does ballroom and vogue well ... just like any Kpop idol or any dancer who is trained extensively would be expected to do. I'd only be surprised if she DIDN'T do it well.

Cultural appropriation isn't an issue in other countries because those same cultures aren't oppressed there.

For example most Japanese people in Japan love when white folks wear kimonos or when the U.S. exploits Japanese culture because they are considered "model minority" here and it's a form of flattery ...

However, if Japanese people were getting lynched every other day and shot for no reason etc I think they would stop finding the borrowing of their culture by white people flattering.

It gets harder and harder to enjoy things the borrow from African American culture as a basis for art as my presence in this country (or any country) becomes more and more a life and death issue.

Seeing Solar do ballroom and vogue ... is ... weird and cringey and awful ... because of these facts. Kpop is 99% stolen from other cultures including African American culture but not exclusively. They borrow, shift, add on, to a lot of different styles and cultures including some middle eastern styles and music. It's all they do ... what is Korean music without borrowing, stealing, appropriating, and building upon others ... it's gugak basically ...

4/

Everything is art and I'm not saying you can't interpret or do homages and stuff ... that's not my point. The point is that if African Americans were treated as well as their culture was stolen ... things would be very, very different.

I consider appropriation to be appropriation when the BALANCE isn't there ... when you treat the inherent aspects of a culture BETTER than the culture itself. When the borrowed art, style, and outward look is cherished but the people who created it are oppressed.

It becomes exhausting to a certain extent and ONLY BECAUSE African Americans are SO mistreated and so oppressed and so hated ... yet almost every aspect of African American culture has been stolen and appropriated. Just think about the constant rape and pillage of the continent of Africa ... everything from raw materials to plants ... stealing land and art from slaves ... appropriating rock and roll, blues, jazz ... it goes on and on and on ... and yet the oppression is MONUMENTAL ...

2/

I love Solar. She is very talented and he has a beautiful singing voice. I am happy to see her putting out new music but when I watch this ... it's just hard.

I read an essay that I can't find now that basically was about how African American culture was the most STOLEN from culture in the ENTIRE of the world ... everything from literally land, art, music, clothing, hairstyles, speaking ...

The most stolen from and the most oppressed at the same time.

Just ...

One of my most favorite actresses, is on the 2024 Time 100 Most Influential People. If you don't know Alia ... get to know her. ❤️ I have posted about her epicness a few times here.

Whether this is the normal and "acceptable" amount of bacteria in tap water I don't know. I would need to have it tested by a professional to see. If this is normal for suburban tap water, EVEN WITH a REVERSE OSMOSIS system ... I think that is incredibly scary.

Fishtanks should not SMELL bad. If they do, you have a problem. My tap water smells like my fishtank ... which means there is probably a problem.

Heterotrophic bacteria is common in drinking water and it's not harmful BUT when you have too much of it, it can lead to outbreaks of other kinds of BAD bacteria. And if you introduce it into a system like your gut ... and if you already have issues with bacterial over or undergrowth in your gut, you can end up with gastrointestinal problems ...

So our tap water has TONS of heterotrophic bacteria in it, enough that I can smell it especially at active temps (warmer temps) ...

2/

So the situation with our water has taken an interesting turn. When I said the smell in our glasses was similar to my aquarium I wasn't far off. When you setup aquariums you often have to deal with sometimes outbreaks of heterotrophic bacteria ... when you have them it can cause your water to look white and cloudy. Treating it with autotrophic bacteria can reverse that and stabilize the tank. I have been dealing with heterotrophic growth and I know that smell well ...
