The picture is real. I'm not buying into the trending syphilis internet diagnosis, but this does look sort of "please don't touch me or anything I might touch".
I know it sounds terribly pedestrian, but those look like burns to me. Very similar to to curling iron burns from my hairspray youth. 🤷🏻♀️

@Cosmichomicide: I saw them and thought of friction burns, like golfing 9 to 18 without a glove... or playing tug of war against someone way stronger than you are... or catching yourself on an old iron railing when you're falling and you're grossly overweight and/or incredibly weak.
