I am still a fan of the Job Guarantee over universal basic income. But it is working. And for that I am glad they are running these experiments.
Places across the U.S. are testing no-strings cash as part of the social safety net.
Around the country, from big cities to rural counties, there've been more than 150 basic income pilots, and counting. Supporters say it works because people can spend the money on whatever they need most.

@corlin We need a full-scale recalibration of work, value and the whole economy.
We cannot survive the widening gap between rich and poor -- the extremes have never been more extreme. What people are doing to be (and stay) rich is so unsustainable it is simply unconscionable.
UBI experiments speak directly to the technology that is disrupting everything we thought we knew about how things remain in balance, and the trajectory of life.
Human have made ourselves dispensable.

One of the most important changes to make is to decouple "work" from profit. This is one reason I like the Job Guarantee. Massive amounts of human labor, are not going to be displaced by tech, at least in the near future. We will need this work done, without the burden, and inefficiencies, of profit.
