Here's a very brief reflection I wrote about one sign by which a person's tendency toward either truthfulness or dishonesty can be discerned. inserviceofthereal.quora.com/H

@sufisamwise That is good and thoughtful. Thanks for sharing.

@sufisamwise this might not be entirely true for those of us whose professional training involves information security. That whole, 'trust but verify' thing is hammered into you pretty hard.

@jordicusmaximus, the necessary context for your situation differs from that of the people I was referring to. In their instance, that context is unnecessary: they have personal choice. In your situation, the choice is made for you, and necessarily so.

@sufisamwise I agree though on the first point, an unwillingness to view things from a different perspective also indicates lack of empathy in general.. Bit of a red flag by any stretch.

@jordicusmaximus, I agree with your point that a lack of empathy is also implied; while I may not have used the word empathy in the original post, for me empathy was naturally implied, because empathy for others more frequently leads to considering their viewpoints, while a lack of empathy usually predisposes us not to consider others' views.

@jordicusmaximus specific exceptions can always be found to principles that are generally true, wouldn't you agree?

@sufisamwise absolutely. There are few rules with no exceptions.
