Wildfires in #Texas during February. FOUR of them, actually.
@Agatha I've seen so many videos of horses and cows running on the roads down there trying to get away from the fires. It's just awful! The complex is so big, can see it from space now... ๐ซ
Fire season now starts in February? Oy...
Here in Albuq we had fire warnings for 2 or 3 days last week. Seems like climate change is ratcheting up FAST.
Indeed it does.
I've been trying to come up with a plan to get away for this summer, but even going north is no guarantee - the west coast of Canada has been experiencing massive fires the last few years. Where else can one go???
@see_the_sus Post-Brexit UK is to be avoided. Mainland Europe is a good goal. I'd go to Netherlands if I could.

I see where people with Irish grandparents can be granted dual citizenship. Looking at my 23&Me heritage results, I've got the percentage that equates with grandparents, but in reality, it is just the sum of many part Irish ancestors. I think.
@BlueStateBabe I *do* have Irish grandparents on my Dad's side and yes, it's tempting. @see_the_sus @SandHillThicket

Maybe I could claim to be an orphan not knowing my parentage, and therefore I need to go solely based upon my DNA "proof".
Think it'd work?
Nah...
@stueytheround @see_the_sus @SandHillThicket
Netherlands, eh?
My mother's paternal side is Dutch. But they emigrated in the 1600s, so no realistic connection, except for the surname. And a family tree that actually traces who the first emigrant was - settling in New Amsterdam, now known as New York state.

Do you think there is any chance that the UK will rejoin the EU?
I can't even imagine the extent of the nightmare regarding jobs and citizenship, not to mention upending the economy.
@BlueStateBabe I honestly think we're stuck. No government would have the courage to try, and even if they did *and* we voted to return, I don't know if the EU would have us back. I honestly can't blame them either.
@stueytheround @see_the_sus @SandHillThicket
So very sad. I'm not in the thick of it, so I'm certainly not knowledgeable enough to understand the fine points, but it just seemed like crazy chaos, much like the insanity we dealt with (and are still trying to fix) from the Trump years.
@stueytheround @see_the_sus @BlueStateBabe I would move to Japan, New Zealand, or France in a heartbeat, if I had the cash. Meanwhile, Kansas is where the "car broke down"... ๐คช๐
