I am currently reading a Bible study called "Doing theology from below" and this segment caught my eye.
It's far too true and a big part of the reason why scripture is anathema to so many people.
The Christ character in the New Testament is a liberal socialist and the earliest “Christian” churches were full on Communists. To the point that one of them is executed by “God” for lying about how much money they had. They were killed for not putting everything into the communal fund.
Today’s “Christians” are all but never actual “Christians”
I’m a Baptist minister’s son. The implementation of Gospel has been severely degraded in even just my lifetime.
As I wake up ever further in Act III of my life, it’s abundantly clear that almost nothing we were taught/believed is true.
Life is an illusionary journey.
@stueytheround Thank you for posting this. That's basically what my mother told me when I used to question the bible as a youngun. I was like, "Women have no rights. So uncool." So my religious upbringing was my first exposure to misogny. My cultural upbringing was 2nd. And I'm so not about it. ;-)
#religion #christianity
@stueytheround I've been doing one of those "read the whole Bible in a year" schedules, and it's amazing to me just how anti-wealth parts of it really are. That gets skipped entirely when powerful rich people are the ones explaining it.
