IDK who needs to hear this, but if you're talking to your direct reports... be clear. Don't down them in corporate speak and give ambiguous updates (and be mad when they ask you questions).
I might be a bit of a butthead as a direct report, but... my job is QA. I do this because I'm good at finding problems and not usually afraid to ask questions. :p
