Some of you know that every once in a while I chat with a guy in Ukraine, We use a secure channel run by his military unit. Anyway he is heartbroken, and pretty angry at this latest Russian air strike.
He said he and his family are safe. hie parents (farmers) are used to going without power. And his unit has enough generators.

@corlin 😒 My Ukrainian friend was here today. Her elderly mother is in a small town near Lviv. She could here the missles and is without power. I asked if she could get her mother to come to Canada temporarily until it is safer. She said she refuses to leave. It's so unsafe for her; but, she won't budge. Her MIL is disabled and partially paralyzed and is exactly the same. She won't leave. Breaks my heart. πŸ’”

Yes.

The guy I chat with parents, live on a farm only 60 klicks from the front line. Will not move west. They are without power and fuel. But are hand tilling a big garden to feed themselves.

The power of place, and the land is very strong in Ukrainians.

@corlin Yes. And babushkas are not to be trifled with. I'm so worried for her family. Her cousin almost lost his leg in battle. He went right back to the frontline as soon as he could. 😒
