Vance has no intention of allowing Trump to remain president if he is elected. Trump will be president just long enough to pardon himself and Vance will lead the push to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove Trump from office. Vance is the real danger here. The support for Trump is a facade, and will disappear the moment the Republicans gain power. It is critically important to elect a majority of Democrats in the House, Senate and presidency.
