I have to ask the following question of security folks..
We have White Hats who do hacking to test and protect, Black Hats who do hacking for harm and financial gain, but why do we call the 3rd Category of folks who just pick up hacking tools to pretend they're hackers Script Kiddies instead of AssHats?
@PaganMother Ah, I thought script kiddies were folks who downloaded pre made tools and just used them.
@sfleetucker A lot of us were! Some of us had no idea what we were doing code wise, just that "it works" sort of mindset. We were the pioneers of chatroom booters.
@sfleetucker I did it simply to annoy a friend that was being a butt on voice chat in yahoo chat rooms back in the day. Been sort of reading up and working on html5 and javascript since then for site layout sheets and learning the code work for websites.
@sfleetucker Not any kind of infosec person here, but I humbly submit my earlier "bobble head" for consideration.
bobble (noun)
1 : a repeated bobbing movement
2 : a small ball of fabric
especially : one in a series used on an edging
3 : ERROR, MISTAKE
especially : a mishandling of the ball in baseball or football
@sfleetucker Mostly cause those of us that toyed with "hacking" in the early days were literally "kids", teenagers and young adults that were not studied in computer technology, nor coding languages but willing to fight with ANYONE using those tools. So, Script kiddy sort of stuck with the lot of us.
