I'm running low on acetaminophen so I pull up the Wallymart site to check on the price and I noticed there's this arthritis version.
Does anyone take this, or has taken it, instead of basic acetaminophen?
@see_the_sus Did you check the ingredients label on the back? It seems like it would be the same thing since my mom used to take the regular for her arthritis and it worked just fine?
No, not yet because I was first curious if others have taken it and what their body's response to it was.
@see_the_sus it’s just marketing and probably a dose difference in milligrams. It’s is the same active ingredient.
@see_the_sus and one is extended release. Either way, don’t exceed the daily maximum.
The one marketed for arthritis is 150 mg *more* per pill. So if you're taking two at a time, that's 1300mg in a single dose. It would be very easy to end up taking more than the daily limit for someone in constant arthritis pain.
And as @0x56 mentioned already, the cap is easier to remove.
I don't touch acetominophen. Ever.
@see_the_sus Uninformed opinion: I thought acetaminophen does little for arthritis because it's not anti-inflammatory. Ibuprofen is, but is harder on kidney and liver than acetaminophen. Homeopathic arnica might be worth discussing with your NP. Anti-inflammatory. Might help you keep doses of other two to safe levels.
I can't use ibuprofen because I'm on psych meds which can affect the kidney.
I appreciate your suggestions but I've lived with my conditions for decades & have done a lot of research, in addition to talking with all the dr's I've had, and for the most part, I know what works & what doesn't work. Arnica only helps for minor pain and it isn't covered by medical insurance.
If I could afford acupuncture and massage therapy, I wouldn't be on 1/2 of the meds that I am on.
I wasn't asking people to tell me how or what I should or shouldn't be doing or taking.
@see_the_sus Sorry, I'll be quiet now.
Just ask if I, and others, want your advice, before assuming we do. 🤷 You'd be amazed at how wonderful it is to be asked. 😊
@see_the_sus - I looked into something similar before... It is the cap that's the difference. Easier to open with arthritic hands
