Can a milk stout spoil and make you sick if it's been a long time since it was canned?
@scottyorange Yes. There is lactose, and yeasty beasties in there. Given enough time it will go bad.
@scottyorange No. the "milk" in beer is milk sugar and that won't spoil. If there is alcohol in the bottle, it is safe to drink. I've had an 8 year old homebrew that was sharp, but not horrible. The more light and heat a beer is exposed to, the faster the beer may change to something absolutely nasty. Sometimes cardboard, sometimes skunk. Beers with higher alcohol content and special ingredients may meld together to produce something really lovely after a number of years.
@scottyorange no more so than any other beer. There's no milk in it - it's called a milk stout because it has lactose (sugar) added.
