Question for the US peeps on here: are you used to handling written-on-paper prescriptions?

I'm part of a big integrated health sysem (Kaiser Permanente) and so generally I just walk over to the in-house pharmacy to fill scripts & never touch paper. I believe if I had to go external that the script would be transferred electronically & so same experience.

When you get prescribed something, how often are you given a paper prescription?

@rpardee I use two different health systems, and I haven’t handled a paper prescription in about 5 years.

@rpardee you should always get it on paper so you can shop around.

@rpardee My doctor and pharmacy are two separate businesses. Until COVID I got a paper Ritalin script because apparently the state required me to hand carry it to the pharmacy for some reason.

That changed in the pandemic and now they're all electronic. My doc has to do a bunch of passwords and so on proving she is who she says she is to write my Ritalin script, but I don't have to be a courier.

Thanks all! Very enlightening. I guess things may differ depending on the particular drug being prescribed...
