Maybe the bougiest thing Ive ever done: It was cold out so I started my car from my phone and let it warm up before I went outside. Not sorry.
I have a very reliable, well maintained, fairly low mileage, 20 year old Honda CRV that is in no need of replacement, but is still 20 years back on features now considered mainstream.
I want heated seats and remote start, dammit. Though Cosmic Jr did install a nifty sound system for me to replace the cassette deck and radio. LOL!
@Cosmichomicide I took my volvo s40 to 140k, it still runs but was getting scary in bad weather or on highways. Omg the tech in the new ones is amazing.
I'm not even to 150K yet and she just returned after Cosmic Jr took her to New Orleans from NC and back, so still seaworthy.
Yah, I'd love all the new shinies, but, like my phone, she's still doing the job.
@Cosmichomicide yeah, I only cavved cuz I was feeling unsafe, 2006, driving to work in the dark when the weather was bad was white knuckle stress. But what a joy it is to have a new one!
I drive down the hall in my pajamas, so the only white knuckles occur when my internet is wonky.
There's a non-zero chance this car could be part of my estate, LOL!
Me, Nov 2023: heated seats are decadent nonsense. Besides, it doesn't really get *that* cold here.
A month later, after buying new car: The old car is no longer driveable. It doesn't even have heated seats!
@rpardee @Cosmichomicide my ancient (2006) volvo had heated seats so that wasn’t killer to me. But a backup camera is now a non negotiable!
@LaurelGreen @Cosmichomicide I feel like I could live w/out the camera. But the heated *steering wheel*--that is the bomb dot com. My hands always get cold...
OTOH, an annoyance: proximity alarms going off when I park in my garage.

@rpardee @Cosmichomicide I still havent adjusted to the camera warnings. I yell back at it. But I did a few days ago get one freaking out blinking and beeping that was over something I didnt see coming, so I stopped cursing when I yell back.
