@rpardee @process I'd add that it's always fraught. I was talking with my sib, who tried as best as possible to stay out of it when it was happening, still has moments of pain and confusion and anger.

@rpardee @process The other odd thing is, reading these books you miss out on the mad normalcy mixed in. Still had to go to the grocer, buy tea, do your job, cook your meals, clean the house.

@rpardee @process And somehow, 'midst it all, people still met, married and kept going. I think it says a lot that people didn't always despair. There was a lot of it, but some made homes and families in the deep end of the cesspit.

@rpardee @process Anyway, I'm far from an expert. There was immense pain in any direction you care to point, except up. It's made me very wary of political factions, and nothing will make me back-up faster than perceived fanaticism. Sectarianism comes in many forms, and right now, I'm seeing it arisen in the US, UK and all over; it gives me the heebeejeebees, as my Uncle would say.

@rpardee @process Just keep an open mind, reading about this stuff, be aware that unless cited, it may not be accurate, and agenda may be part of the deal. Probably good advice for most histories of most things.
