I guess I am chronicling our weekend now because the trip didn't happen and I want a record of how we are making the most of it. After the jazz brunch, we went to the city market on a whim, bought Napoleon's, and I got a three-pack of surprise pouches, thinking they will be good for jewelry. I am not the owner of these trinkets only, but also of a ridiculously happy inner child.

Millefeuille but we call them Napoleon. It is kinda mind-altering

@publickovacs @Jezibaba These are my all-time favorite pastry along with a variation by a local bakery that they call Josephines, which are Napoleons with a layer of raspberry filling on top of the custard!😍

Ermergerd raspberry!!!! I am in favor of the local variation!!!

@Jezibaba

@publickovacs @Jezibaba I'd been a Napoleon fan since they were available from Wegman's bakery when I was growing up in NY. The variation here in San Diego from DZ Akins was a very pleasant surprise! So good. I don't have a pic of the Josephine, but here's a Napoleon from their site.
@singlemaltgirl Not cake, but...amazing!
