Nice to see Ireland not swinging right any time soon. Latest polling suggesting it’ll still be the traditional center right parties.

Far Right In Ireland losing support, not gaining. Traditional values, anti abortion party Aontú are rising but they’re tiny.

Fine Gael 22
Fianna Fáil 21
Sinn Féin 18 (+1)
Social Democrats 6 (+1)
Aontú 5 (+2)
Greens 4 (+1)
Ind Ireland 3 (-2)
Labour 3 (-1)
PBP-Solidarity 2 (-1)
Independents/others 16 (+1)

So more of the same, I’ll take that myself.

How is it they're resisting the trend? I keep telling Mr. L we should move there to get away from what's happening even here. We could pull it off, I think, if it weren't for the fact that each of us has a parent here who needs us. Anyway, not going to happen, but a girl can dream.

@LiseL I guess it’s a deeply ingrained culture of fuck you to anyone that tries to get above their station or punches down. History and all that.

@process

I always thought Canadians had that. It looked a little different, though. More of a "Who you do think you are? Don't get too big for your britches!" than a "fuck you", but still the same idea. But maybe that's changed.

@LiseL I was going to say Ireland don’t share a border with nutters but here I am 😂

I don’t know, honestly. It’s rising here but so far at least most see through it. Perhaps it’s that closeness of community, small island thing as well?

At the minute though I think they see Northern Ireland Unionists as a good example of why you just do not go down that road

@process

😂 Yes, I guess recent history is still a good teacher.
