50 years ago it was 1974, and last I checked neither Richard Nixon nor Gerald Ford were trying to put an end to elections or make themselves dictator-for-life.
Nixon may have been a crook, but Trump's rampant, shameless, disgusting degree of criminality, authoritarianism, stupidity, and corruption makes Nixon look like an angel by comparison.
@postal_poet In fact, I would go so far as to say the outcome if Trump and his band of fascist criminals wins would be worse than anything the United States has ever witnessed in its entire history.
Even British rule was almost certainly fairer and less tyrannical than the Nazi-inspired horrors those grotesque monsters hope to unleash on the population.
@postal_poet If they managed to implement all their catastrophic plans and hold on to power... by the end of a decade, it's highly likely the United States would be more of a totalitarian state than China.
Except worse, because at least the Chinese government's fairly competent. A Trump-dictatorship US gov, OTOH, would due to nepotism, corruption, & stupidity likely be as incompetent as the North Korean government or the Khmer Rouge.
