During construction and when first built. Eads Bridge. St. Louis, MO. Completed 1874. First use of steel in construction. Was way over engineered because of that. They put sixteen locomotive engines in a row on it when it first opened, to prove to the public it was safe.

@poemblaze Went to the top of the arch, getting there in those little pods was claustrophobic, but what wide open view it was.

@Anance It's like climbing into a washing machine. But it is cool to see the view from the top.
