25 hours ago I was about to check the progress of the barley/oat porridge I was cooking in the rice cooker. My left hand strayed too close to the steam vent. Serious scalding to the end (but not tip) of one finger ensued. I ran cold water over it for almost 50 minutes before getting any relief. Patted it dry & wrapped it in cling film. Then drove unsteadily to the Emergency wing of the nearest hospital for treatment.
