In the early 1970's all you needed was:

A Hard hat, Vest, Clipboard. Butt Phone, and a portable Signal Analyzer. and you get the door man to let into the service elevator, and down to the local telephone exchange. In any major corporation building. There you make all the connections you need for unlimited long distance phone calls, from the pay phone on campus.

@paxterrarum i have a jacket that was originally ordered & made for a parking garage company, but was the wrong size so they returned it to the store i worked for. i bought it for $5. it's blue & says SECURITY in large yellow letters on the back. there was a patch with the parking garage logo on the front chest that i removed.
i used to to attend BosCon once when i was broke . no one questioned me entering badge only parts of the Con. it got me into a concert once as well.
