"The eruption on Mauna Loa at sunset last night. (11-28) This is from Mauna Kea access road, just below the visitor's center."

@okika_hilo This is scary. I can't imagine being on the island when Pele erupts. Are you ok?
@Jakki Yes. Right now I am on the mainland. This is a HUGE island. Lots of uninhabited land. Mauna Loa makes up half of the island, and most of that has little to no people on it. It is flowing in uninhabited areas right now.
@okika_hilo Thank God🙏 I spent over a week on the Big Island for a course. I loved it. I actually saw the "Lava Tube"...🙄. I really liked Hilo. Mauna Loa erupted the week I was there...on a Wednesday.
@Jakki When were you here? 2018? That was Kilauea. Mauna Loa last erupted in 1984. 😎
@smittycanada1 @okika_hilo I'm glad they're safe. Erupting volcanos are stressful shall we say🤦🏼♀️
@Jakki @okika_hilo Most certainly! 😬
@okika_hilo @Jakki I just heard back from Eliah. They do live on the slope of Mauna Loa at about 1000 meters but are all safe for now. Lava is not flowing their way. Glad she was able to get back to me. I was worried.
