Just out of curiosity what instant messenger / texting app do you use? (If something else, add a comment)

If you use Signal, so far @corlin and @LaMarghe , I'm curious what you think of the recent news about sms integration being decrecated and will you continue using the app:

@nova Mostly WA but only because it took me so many years to convince my Mum to use a web based message service that changing again would be a total pita!

@nova I use Signal and Telegram with my friends and family, and Textra specifically for SMS/text messages.

@nova
I use iMessage to apple owners only as it falls to SMS to any other.

I use Signal some.

But IRC with SSL and OTR encryption, for most other secure comms.

@nova what's the one that comes w/ the phone? that one. 😂

@singlemaltgirl yeah that would be standard SMS if it's Android, if it's iPhone you'd be using sms with android users and iMessage with other iphone users.

@nova @LaMarghe

I will try alternatives.
CoSoCall is one I use more and more.

@nova @corlin @LaMarghe
I will continue using Signal.
It will be a little clumsy having two apps.
There are times, and I suspect those times will become more frequent, when communications must be private

@BrentSullivan @corlin @LaMarghe I plan on continuing to use it too. I just plan on being more engaged and quicker to respond on Signal versus regular text messaging.

@nova @corlin yes, I will continue using Signal. In fact I appreciate their reasoning for ditching SMSs.
That's why I installed Textra. I don't like the stock Google/Samsung text app, I did some research, and voilà, Textra it is.

@nova it's standard SMS, but it's verizons program, highly customizable and has a lot of features
