Well...TBF, I'm not trying to paint them as humorless turds inasmuch as I am admitting I make awful jokes, and have a decided penchant for ghoulish overkill.
Seriously, just search my post history - I say the most *awful* things, including but not limited to how my cats are Evil, they're psychotic beasts who threaten my life/are trying to kill me, what nice gloves their pelts will make After The Harvestβ’, etc etc.
I find it hilarious to paint them as tortured creatures, bc that's so outlandish - they're absurdly spoiled - and to say ridiculous things about what nice gloves they'll make; to me, it's just deliciously absurd.
Heavens forbid if anyone ever takes me *seriously* ππ±
"Yes, Officer, This Post Right Here - he says he's gonna skin his cats alive!!!"
That said, even the most trivial, casual jokes do NOT go over there well, so...I don't post much.
@netspionage @Tail CoSo is so #TeamMurderMuffin with Jay's bengals.
πππ
Plus, anyone trulyliving with cats know they can be assholes. ππ
@Fiikus_goddess Everyone posts about how they're assholes and they're waiting to kill their owners in their sleep and always knocking stuff off tables, etc., but when it comes to THEIR pet they get all snooty about it.
@Tail Well, my sweet boi over the rainbow bridge was a sweetie nose to tail. Not a mean fluff in him!
On the other paw, Empress, still living with me, is a 19yo Dread Pirate Roberts, that's likely to kill me in the morning.
Not sure on Smushy. Yet.
See Exhibit A.
@Fiikus_goddess I've met very few cats who weren't little sweetie cuddlebugs. RIP to the sweetieπ
19 years is a long life or a cat! That must mean they're living a good one.
@Tail Living good, but why oh why are the food bowls so empty!
Her favorite complaint. At 4am, usually.
@Fiikus_goddess LOL, typical cats. They really have no shame about letting everyone know they want something.
@netspionage That's what drove me away from Reddit, I think that's the best kind of humor. Parents make fun of their kids and it's hilarious. The same people that don't get jokes on Twitter.
To me the humor is obvious, but from working in the animal field, I can absolutely tell you that animal people are some of the worst. They take their animals SUPER seriously. THAT is ridiculous to me.
Like those over-protective parents that won't let their kids have any fun. They'd make AWESOME gloves.

With you there.
The biggest problem with my sense of humor is it does not translate well to the written word (which troubles me inordinately, as I'm predominantly a writer π).
I can *be* funny in person; "writing funny" is a whole other thing, though, and it often eludes me.
This has never stopped me from trying, though it does mean my jokes usually fall flat at best, or go over like a pregnant pole-vaulter at worst.
Agreed about the people taking things too seriously part - it's worse for Bengals, as most people into them are into showing them or whatever (I have no part of cat shows or such things, I just like their personalities).
Of the three (3) animals I've had which weren't rescues, these guys are two of them. IOW, *all* my other cats & dogs have been rescues. I'm a firm believer in that. I don't do breeding or shows or any of that sort of excess.
@netspionage Rescues make the best pets. They know they've been rescued and they know what they've been rescued from. I've never known one to not show anything but gratitude, love and loyalty for it.
Indeed about the sense of humor, I rub a lot of people the wrong way because they can't hear the inflections of my voice of the written text, and especially with how the internet can be, it's easy to not be able to tell who's joking and who is an actual psychopath.
@netspionage That's pretty on brand for Reddit as far as I can tell. People on the internet don't seem to have senses of humor. smh
