Do dentists do anything any more, besides making their staff clean your teeth, and referring you to more specialized practitioners?
I have a cavity. I want it filled. I do not want multiple sessions of teeth cleaning. To begin with, I'm pretty sure that's how I got the fucking cavity.
Fuck's sake.
I keep having dentists clean my teeth until there's no coverage left, then having to wait a year for coverage, then having them say they want to clean my teeth first.
FFUUUCK!
For starters, maybe scratching at my teeth with hardened steel picks might possibly not be good for them! What kind of racket is this?
I had a wisdom tooth that needed out, and the dentist wanted to wait until I'd had all my teeth cleaned. 3 out of 4 cleanings in, it abscessed and had to be pulled anyway - by an oral surgeon!
What the fuck does a dentist even do any more?
The one dentist who even cleaned my teeth _themselves_ accidentally injected my facial nerve and almost maimed me.

I think most of it is certainly straight up fraud. / jmo
I'm right there with you, Mother.
@mims @AskTheDevil dental care is healthcare. Why the fuck do I need to pay for extra plans for my teeth and eyeballs? Those came standard with my make and model.
we should demand to change it to PART of REGULAR healthcare ALONG WITH VISION CARE
as soon as we are past the election, clean house in SCOTUS and get rid of the filibuster..
This next congress is going to have it's hands collectively full. As will Joe.
@mims @MotherDucker They will be praying for me to finally pass away.
I have all sorts of work I'd like to see our congresspeople and other elected officials get to.
I'm quite ready for us all to fire the ones who up until now have been more worried about big campaign support from the wealthy and industry than in fighting the far right or getting people healthcare, equal rights, or saving the planet.
The Republicans are evil, they're effective, they're using power for evil.
We need good.
@mims @AskTheDevil I’ve had people try to defend the separate insurance coverages by saying, “well not everyone needs glasses or not everyone has bad teeth.” Which just made me seethe. Well my appendix has never ruptured, I have never broken a bone and my heart and brain chugging along quite nicely but I don’t need separate insurance for those, do I?
@mims @AskTheDevil Glad if I have a stroke the doctor won’t refer me out to someone else before just fucking dealing with it. And with the great health insurance I have, it will be less than any one of my teeth having a routine anything.
@MotherDucker @mims Right?
@MotherDucker @mims @AskTheDevil to make it seem like you are paying less? Like all of the airfare add ons these days.
@Museek @MotherDucker @mims I think it's to milk insurance and especially programs intended for the disabled, elderly and impoverished. When they find out you have a limit of $1000 for care every year, they bog you down with multiple cleaning sessions, which they bill enough for that you run out of coverage before you get the actual work done, leaving you struggling to pay out of pocket, or waiting until the next year, when your teeth are worse, or when you have a dental emergency.
@AskTheDevil @MotherDucker @mims greed, once again
@mims @AskTheDevil absolutely is. 100% No one will ever convince me otherwise.
