Fun fact: The Goa’ould was a megalomaniac species of worm-like parasites that infested the brains of humans in the Stargate SG1 universe and enslaved humans under the guise of being their gods.
They had advanced technology that allowed them to live essentially forever, but it drove them insane and lead them to greater and greater cruelty, including eating their own offspring.

@mims I mean, they kind of made their own bed - they had a negative population growth by the time the Earth rediscovered the Stargate, and would have eventually consumed themselves from within.
