Know why Gosling won't get the Oscar?
Because he's the kind of guy to go off about it in his acceptance speech. He was both Gerwig and Robbie's "dream Ken" and he's a girl dad x2. 👠
@Cosmichomicide that would be fun to see
@Cosmichomicide @killingfloorman: I don't figure he'll win it because Brown, DeNiro, and RDJ were all-around better in their respective films. Oddly, I think Ruffalo is the dark horse in this one.

Yep - nice way to box Greta into being grateful for the writing nod.
@Cosmichomicide @killingfloorman: I'm weird, as usual, because I don't get the hubbub over it all. The Barbie movie was good and fun; no doubt about it, but it was up against legit stiff competition. Heck, I'm not surprised Miss Ferrera got her nomination. I thought Robbie might've, but even with a not long ago (and I think mistakenly) lengthened number of noms per category, I thought it'd be close. The movie made $1bn+. 🤷♂️ So does McDonald's, but they're not Michelin star. As for the script...
@Cosmichomicide @killingfloorman: ...I thought it was elevated by the cast, art design, and the music. I wouldn't have thought it worthy of an Oscar nomination but for the zeitgeist and, as you said, a consolation prize, if seemingly backhanded. Several films over the decades had no business getting nominations or wins, but they did because of public zeitgeist and PR and promotion among/to Academy members. It's smoke-filled back rooms and horse-trading.
@Cosmichomicide good for him
Folks are also circulating Billy Crystal (after Streisand didn't get a director nomination), "Did the movie direct itself?"
@killingfloorman
But, like, even Ken, once he found out the patriarchy had nothing to do with horses wasn't even that into it. But, it just rolls along, anyway....
