@XSGeek @netspionage These HAVE to be fake propaganda. At some point. Something is trying to whip up violence but they're really bad at it.
@Klaatu_Veratta_Nectarine @XSGeek
This is my hope as well; as in, that my fellow Americans aren't *truly* that shitty 😞
I've...been frequently disappointed on that point, however, and I'm not referring to mere online interactions, sadly.
#Parler is a cesspool of hate, and it's more concentrated than Twitter is in that regard, and there are LOADS of incitement to violence there 😞
@netspionage @Klaatu_Veratta_Nectarine @XSGeek
Yer gonna keep gettin disappointed, then.
I live amongst these fucks.
They exist, and they are far, far worse than this.
Quit putting “Americans” on a pedestal.
We suck.
Get over the “murca’s numbr 1” mindset and realize that “Americans” are no better than the citizenry of 1940’s Germany.
@GlytchMeister @netspionage @XSGeek I also live among them, it's not that. There's something strange about these particular posts with their weird spelling errors. They're too similar. They're fake. I can't put my finger on it. For sure there are a lot of ignorant not fake posts. It's like looking at a fake Christmas tree. There's an obvious formula.
@Klaatu_Veratta_Nectarine @netspionage @XSGeek
Small minds rarely differ.
This feels like an Occam’s razor moment: the simplest explanation is that people are morally worse than most would like to believe.
There are posts coming from Russian bots that are inflaming things, yes, but that is but a match that starts the forest fire.
It’s an exponential function. The majority of stupidity you see online is real. Only a little bit is Machiavellian machinations, which causes the rest to flare.
@GlytchMeister @Klaatu_Veratta_Nectarine @netspionage @XSGeek
It's the difference between Catalyst and Accelerant.
With "Catalyst", the results were prepared to emerge.
If "Accelerant", they were built by the instigator.
And, it could be a combination of the two wherever they found fertile ground.
@GlytchMeister @Klaatu_Veratta_Nectarine @netspionage @XSGeek
I think it could be Catalyst due to the context of widespread social media to activate the ugly side of America. But, I'll also maintain that America is not necessarily unique in its ugliness. This insidious character is probably endemic to most of humanity.
But, I have a hypothesis that it had been much worse throughout history and we're actually trending better. We can just see it more easily now.
@jurban
America is not unique, no. The thing is, a lot of Americans have been taught that American is uniquely good. And to see otherwise is a very rude awakening.
