A 13-year-old boy was groomed publicly on Twitter and kidnapped, despite numerous chances to stop it

The abduction came after a series of missed opportunities where Twitter and law enforcement failed to effectively intervene.

@jjmacnab: Awful but unsurprising, and I don't just mean on the law-enforcement and Twitter side of it.

My experiences over decades, having worked security at a LOT of events and conventions, will not allow me to trust a great many people with kids, money, memorabilia, or sensitive information as far as I can throw them, regardless of how they present themselves publicly.

@jjmacnab

I was about his age when I was first groomed. I was in my 40s before I'd processed it all enough to be able to call it that. Part of the problem was that term wasn't popularly used when I was his age. Hopefully, he can get help sooner.

Parents, it's not enough to have a main password on your modem or router. Get a good router. LEARN HOW TO USE IT. We set it up to cut off my son's internet access at the same time every night. All his devices.
