28 years ago today, I was standing in my boss' office in a pension administration firm in Oakland, CA watching the TV news coverage from Oklahoma City.
This is the pivotal event that led to my current work focusing on anti-government extremism.
The local OKC news, which was being broadcast nationwide, was desperately trying to find a family member, any family member, for a little redheaded girl who was in the building at the time of the explosion and was going into surgery and might not make it.
He's the reason I've been self-employed most of my adult life. Besides being a thief and crook, he was quite the perv. He had a thing for "toe cleavage" so I had to wear closed toe shoes and boots for my time working there.

In an unrelated story, that same boss in whose office I spent that morning with my hand over my mouth in horror, recently hanged himself in jail after being arrested for hiring a hitman to murder his girlfriend. He killed her because he'd stolen money from her and didn't want anyone to find out.
