He recently sold his company to Twitter for a reported $100 million to be paid off each year as wages. By firing him, Musk has to immediately come up with some very large percent of that $100 million.
Add in Musk posting publicly about (and mocking) the guy's disability (muscular dystrophy) and Musk is a walking lawsuit.
