@jeffdavenport I can't lie - during my public defender internship, I had a couple defendants that I didn't mind seeing remanded. Especially after I warned one of him to mind his mouth in front of the judge or else, and he talked himself right into "or else."

@danialexis I genuinely never enjoyed “putting people in jail” but my measure has always been - “ if I did this, what consequence would I expect to receive?”
When the actual consequence meets the expectations, it can be gratifying!
@jeffdavenport That's it. People always asked how I could defend the guilty, but that part was easy - I just made sure the police and prosecutors played the game according to the rules. It's the innocent ones who keep you up wondering if you've done enough.
