yes, the pressure to publish and do conferences is enormous.
today, i'm feeling that Homo sapiens has really reached a point where the collapse is imminent.

@holon42 I imagine the pressures of “publish or perish” is a huge contributing factor. And then there’s the effects of venture capital getting excited by the sizzle of profits to be made for treatments/cures (although VC has largely moved away from biotech since 2022).
Relatedly look at Phenylephrine. It’s ineffective as a decongestant when taken orally and is part of big money (close to 2 billion a year) in OTC drugs such as Relief and Benadryl Allergy Plus Congestion.
