π€¨ I haven't been "peopling" enough to have contracted something from a person, but maybe walking in the rain yesterday empowered a latent viral element already in my system. Either way, yesterday's headache is now a full-on sore throat and fever, so apologies to the heat-wave folks in North America, but my place is off limits while I recover. Cancel your flights!
Also: I love that this was the first "news" story to show up in my feeds after I posted this.
Please take it with a grain of salt (I will look into the science with more grounded expert sources later ), but it's always funny to have a new contender for "things that might wipe us out next".
"Lurking aboard the ISS like some antagonist in a John Carpenter flick, the space microbe flourished in deeply embedded, and largely unadulterated, systems for uninterrupted growth."

it's true. they are out to get usπ€
Isn't it nice to be wanted? π
as the title of a book on insects says:
you are never home alone, .
even at the macroscopic level.
microscopic critters, well, we really have only begun.
so if there weren't any aboard, it would be surprising.
not only that, but i suspect some may actually have arrived from out there. the ability of some forms to hibernate through long periods under hostile conditions, well, it's imaginable.
