I have been concerned that my continuing focus on the news is shaping an unhealthy and depressing fog around my life.

I'm getting lots of advice to refocus on the positive, watch less news, etc. And I am sure there is merit in such advice.

Even so, I can't embrace the philosophy recommended by this article.

We are all responsible for this world and our fellow travellers, aren't we? If not, happiness seems kind of hollow.

@sloudermilk

just came across this:

"In Catholic tradition it is Sloth (acedia = not caring, neglect, slight),

one of the seven deadly sins, one that especially afflicted monks and was believed to be a temptation of the devil,

and was associated with melancholia, depression, despair, doubt and skepticism about faith, and a state of being burnt-out,

that had to be resisted with courage and hope."

people thinking it's their solution will only lead them to despair, eventually.
