OK folks, serious discussion. Let's put all emotion aside (as much as possible) and ponder the ultimate outcome if the slogan "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" were to become a reality. Assume it is not hyperbole and that the people who chant it genuinely want it to happen. What would it actually *mean* for the Israelis and its Jews in particular? What would it mean for the Palestinians and the greater Arab world, and the world in general?
@hallmarc I guess it would mean they would have to be neighbors. It would mean Palestinians had their own country and Israelis had their own country.
@AskTheDevil just quickly, where would the Israelis live in their own country if the Palestinians essentially returned to all of Israel and a contiguous West Bank?
@hallmarc They would presumably all live in the same country without one set of people having special privileges?
I'm not saying what I think people will do. I'm saying what they could.
Palestinians are made up of all sorts of people. I bet that could include Jewish people if people could get over their addiction to murdering and terrorizing one another en masse.
"From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free"
Means no Jews in Israel. Always has.
What it means for the Jews is they are fighting for their lives as the most recent slaughter reminded them.
' for the Palestinians and the greater Arab world, and the world in general?'
It means there is no longer hiding places anywhere for Hamas and friends. Put down the weapons or die. Sadly they use hospitals and schools for cover. That no longer will bring them any protection.
@hallmarc before anyone thinks they have a right to an opinion they need to watch this.
Uninformed opinion is ignorance at it's worst.

@hallmarc
I don't know enough about this so I don't believe I get to have an opinion. Like old men wanting to have an opinion on women's bodies. They don't get it and neither do I.
@hallmarc It would mean no living Jews in the Middle-East. Not one. Shoah part two.
@stueytheround This is the best explanation I found. Personally, I've always used trouper.
@hallmarc
The best answer is "trouper," meaning a member of a troupe, or company of performers, that recognize that "the show must go on" despite adversity. A "trooper" is properly defined as a state police officer, cavalry soldier or paratrooper.
@Pat_Walrond "Trooper" as in soldier. As in one who "soldiers on". Being a "real trooper" is to be tenacious and to never give up. A fighter.
I'll be honest, I have never until today seen it spelled "trouper".
@hallmarc
Also, oops! Wrong thread. Sorry everyone!
@hallmarc
I meant to guide this discussion but something has come up here with the kiddos so I'll have to circle back.
