@LiberalEffects this is a great article. At heart I believe Musk has been a "practical libertarian" for a long time, having picked up a few tricks from Thiel. Now that he's super rich (though fallen to 2nd), he can absorb a lot of blowback from US partisans of any stripe but he will never be able to afford a pissed off CCP. You can be sure he's looking for ways to repatriate parts of his supply chain and manufacturing base. No surprise if he uses the CHIPS Act to do some of it.
