@grayman so, are you a subway/underground train driver?

It's a fascinating office with dynamic brake, throttle, danger, a heater, a sturdy break lever and lots of buttons and instruments.

What's the field for pressure on the display for, is it hydraulic for doors?

I run freight trains above ground, currently local work servicing a few customers.

In my career the longest was around 10,000 feet long and the heaviest was a little over 20,000 tons.

Wow, I'm impressed! I've always wondered what that's like. A lot like work, I guess. 😉 But operating a machine like that must be a kick. Gotta admire the education and skill it takes to do that!

Is a kick at times, like when you're backing into a yard with a mile and a half long train, and your conductor is riding on the tail end, as he counts you down to the spot you need to be.

@grayman very cool!

I expected a train cabin to be a bit less rough though.

@ceb

The ones for passenger trains are not bad.

The ones that I run are older utility oriented models.

At least there's heat as the weather chills down. Summers can be brutal because there's no AC or even a fan to create a breeze.
