Is there something going on with milk supplies here in Colorado? Every store we've gone to in the last couple weeks has either been mostly out or completely out. Went to a local Walmart today and they just didn't have milk, and none of the employees seemed to know why.

@grayman @Klaatu_Veratta_Nectarine @AskTheDevil my dad drank some form of non-fat dry milk but it wasn't Carnation. he needed the calcium, but not the fat & low fat milk in bottles didn't exist in the 60s

Ooooofff Memories of carnation milk stored in mason jars in the fridge. Before they got cold it was a hard pass.

A childhood friend's mother would mix up powdered milk and then mix it with fresh milk. It was cheaper. They had four kids.

I learned to keep non-fat dry powdered milk and canned evaporated milk on the shelf. When I lived in WV, sometimes we couldn't get out of the hollar for a while due to snow.

Canned milk tastes pretty good in coffee.

Some boxed baked goods taste richer if you used canned milk instead of fresh milk. Like the Krusteaz cornbread mix.

Pretty much any canned milk is really rich and delicious in coffee, but if you can handle the sugar, sweetened condensed milk is just to die for. In coffee, tea, or chocolate, it's like the hot version of an ice-cream milkshake.

@AskTheDevil @grayman @GeezerWench @Keysalagain @Klaatu_Veratta_Nectarine when i was losing huge amounts of weight from stress (22 pounds one week. 5'9" & 110 pounds) i started putting sweetened condensed milk in my coffee. my boss at the time was "forcing" me to take breaks & eat ice cream. it was pretty bad, but i did get through it...

@GeezerWench @Keysalagain @grayman @Klaatu_Veratta_Nectarine @AskTheDevil when we went to the Bahamas/Caimans, we used to get milk that had been frozen to be shipped in. it was... different, but not awful. sometimes there were local goats so we had goat milk (this was late 60s/early 70s & dad specifically went to non-tourist places)
